主題:Size effects in mechanics, materials science and engineering

內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介:Although size effect has been aware of by Leonardo da Vinci and Gallileo Galilei as early as the 1500s and 1600s, all the observed size effects were generally believed to be attributed to the randomness of material strength. This view remains until the 1980s. Actually, size scaling ubiquitously exists in very physics and engineering domain and size effect thus become a quintessential issue to be considered and addressed. With the overwhelming trend of product miniaturization in many industrial clusters, size effect has become an eluded and tantalizing issue as it affects the design, manufacturing and usage of meso- and micro-scaled products, down-sized physical phenomena, micro- and nano-scaled processing of materials, and many engineering activities involved in different miniaturized scales. In this talk, an epistemological understanding of size effect and an insight into its affected behaviors and phenomena in various disciplines including mechanics, materials science and engineering will be presented. The challenges for in-depth exploration of size effects in different domains will be given and more scientifically needed researches are elucidated. The talk will give a panorama of size effect and its related understanding, and thus provide a basis for further exploration and study of this unique phenomenon.

報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介

傅銘旺教授是香港理工大學(xué)機(jī)械工程系終身教授,2018年受聘為西北工業(yè)大學(xué)講座教授。傅教授是塑性加工領(lǐng)域國(guó)際知名專家,在微細(xì)精密零部件制造及先進(jìn)材料微細(xì)成形加工等方面具有很高的學(xué)術(shù)成就,在國(guó)際上享譽(yù)盛名。

傅銘旺教授主要研究綜合產(chǎn)品設(shè)計(jì)與工藝研發(fā),金屬成形與模具設(shè)計(jì),微細(xì)精密零部件的制造及先進(jìn)材料微細(xì)成形加工。他是國(guó)際制造工程師學(xué)會(huì)的資深會(huì)員,以及擔(dān)任International Journal of Plasticity、Material & Design、International Journal of Damage Mechanics、International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology等多個(gè)權(quán)威SCI期刊編委。他也是多個(gè)國(guó)家重大獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)評(píng)比、多個(gè)國(guó)家/地區(qū)項(xiàng)目課題申報(bào)特邀評(píng)審人。傅教授現(xiàn)已在IJP、IJMTM、JMPT等頂級(jí)/權(quán)威期刊發(fā)表SCI論文160余篇,其中塑性領(lǐng)域TOP1期刊IJP 8篇,以及由國(guó)際著名出版社Marcel Dekker (New York),Springer-Verlag London Ltd,CRC Press和Taylor & Francis Group出版英語(yǔ)專著4部。另外,他有多篇學(xué)術(shù)論文被著名的國(guó)際微制造會(huì)議授予“最佳論文獎(jiǎng)”,以及多篇學(xué)術(shù)論文被Web of ScienceTM評(píng)為“ESI高被引論文”。
