CFD Course
The course will focus on theoretical foundation of unstructured, finite-volume flow solvers and on practical aspects of their development. Methods suitable for the spatial and temporal discretization of the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations on unstructured grids will be presented in detail. Advantages and deficiencies of the various possible approaches will be discussed. Furthermore, boundary conditions and acceleration techniques applicable to unstructured grids will be presented. Each theoretical part will be followed by a practical part, where the students will be shown the actual software implementation of the methods. Hints regarding the overall setup, data structures and programming of unstructured flow solvers will be given as well. Dr. Blazek is ready to discuss particular implementation or CFD problems brought up by the participants of the course.
本課程將著重介紹基于有限體積法的非結構流場求解器的理論基礎并介紹如何將其應用到實際代碼中。

Biography
Dr. Jiri Blazek received his MSc in Aerospace Engineering from the Institute of Technology Aachen, Germany, in 1989.He continued his research at the German Aerospace Center, DLR, and in 1995 obtained his PhD in Aerospace Engineering, focusing on CFD methods for high-speed flows, from the University of Braunschweig, Germany. Following this, Dr. Blazek worked as a research scientist at ABB Turbosystems in Baden, Switzerland, moving to ABB Corporate Research Ltd. (now ALSTOM Power Ltd.) as researcher and project leader for CFD code development in the fields of gas and steam turbines. In 2001, he was appointed as senior research scientist at the Center for Simulation of Advanced Rockets, University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign, USA. In 2005, Dr. Blazek founded his own consultancy and software development firm, CFD Consulting and Analysis, in Sankt Augustin, Germany.
Dr. Blazek’s main research interests include CFD code development – especially in the area of unstructured grids, aircraft and turbomachinery aerodynamics; shape optimization; and data visualization.

Jiri Blazek博士本科和碩士畢業(yè)于德國亞深理工大學,博士畢業(yè)于德國布倫瑞克工業(yè)大學。從1992年起,Blazek博士分別在德國航空宇航中心,瑞士ABB渦輪系統(tǒng)公司,瑞士ABB企業(yè)研究有限公司,瑞士ABB奧爾斯通動力有限公司,美國伊利諾斯大學的先進火箭仿真中心任職,分別擔任過研究科學家,研究工程師和高級研究科學家。2005年,他創(chuàng)立咨詢公司CFD Consulting and Analysis,給包括法國Dassault公司,德國數(shù)學和數(shù)據(jù)處理研究院,德國航空宇航中心,美國SUN系統(tǒng)公司在內的多家公司提供技術支持服務。
Blazek博士的研究興趣主要包括計算流體力學程序開發(fā)(特別是非結構化網格),飛機和葉輪機械氣體動力學,構型優(yōu)化和數(shù)據(jù)可視化。他也常被邀請到瑞士聯(lián)邦理工大學和德國航空宇航中心講授計算流體力學和數(shù)值分析。他著有專著《計算流體力學:原理和應用》一書,堪稱計算流體力學專著中的經典,目前已出版第三版本,被引用上千次。
